Pinteresting Wedding
Since my husband is in the NAVY, we did what a lot of military couples have to do to be together and had a courthouse wedding. We were actually engaged and married within the same day on a rainy Monday afternoon.
Since no one we loved (other than each other of course) was able to witness our exchange of vows, we decided we wanted to have an actual ceremony. The wedding will be on my 26th birthday (best birthday party ever!) and we can't wait.
In preparation for that day, like many girls, I've been keeping a pinterest board with all of my wedding inspiration. I've decided to go with golds, browns, bronzes and coppers. A natural, comfortable, kind of country wedding. Like me :). And it's going to be at VMI, which is where a majority of our relationship took place. Oh VMI.
Unfortunately, since I'm in Florida and the wedding is going to be in Virginia, I'm not getting to do much with the wedding. My mom and Nana are lovingly and tirelessly taking care of most of it. I've made the reception cards for the invitations, with a link to the wedding website I created using www.weddingwire.com. Weddingwire.com is amazing, for anyone who is going to be getting married anytime soon. It even lets you build a guest database so people can RSVP online. As an IT nerd, that makes me super happy. And I got to make my bridesmaids jewelry.
I got to buy shiny beads, which are my favorite, threw a mix of old beads, new beads and pearls into a bowl and made memory wire bracelets (my favorite!)
I didn't want to do a "matchy-matchy" set so I decided to go with gold orchid drop earrings. Now I'm wishing I had bought 8 sets of the orchid drops instead of 7, because now I want a pair. Guess I'll just have to buy more!
I have a few more crafts that I get to do for the wedding, so I'll post them here as I get them done. Official countdown is 70 days. And after more than 5 years together, I can't believe we'll finally be having a wedding.
Also, I'm going to be picking the first charity at some point this week as well as stock up the Etsy store with jewelry. So stay tuned!

New Blog
Well, I've decided to start blogging again, except this time, with a fresh new blog. I realized just how much I missed it all. So, this is the plan, it will be kind of like my blog was before BUT I'm going to pick a different charity every month to attempt to raise money for. I realized I don't really have time to run a full on craft business, however, I do want to keep making things and sell them. I will be "selling" my work, but all money will go to the specific charity for that month.
If you never visited my old blog: ashleydsworld.blogspot.com , please feel free to do so.
If you don't know me, here's a little bit about myself. My name is Ashley, I'm 25 years old, I work in IT, I live in Florida (originally from Virginia) and my husband is an officer in the US NAVY aboard a destroyer.
My goal in life is to be a perfect mix of Leslie Knope:
Ron Swanson:
And April Ludgate
And yes, my favorite TV show is Parks and Recreation. It's awesome, and I worked for Parks and Rec as a teenager in my hometown...*sigh* memories.
Okay, back on topic. Trying to get my bead stash down by making jewelry and selling it for charity. I'm also getting my yarn stash down by making tons of scarves and will be sending them to an orphanage(s) that need them.
I'll also treat this like a regular blog, where I keep you up to date on my life (just because it's fun) and post crafty, designy things. LET'S DO THIS!
